1. Starting Problem
The most commonly reported problem of Duramax 3.0 is no-start or long crank issues.

Injectors should be replaced all at once; otherwise, if you replace just one or two, you will soon encounter problems with other injectors.

3. Excessive Oil Leakage Issues
A few Chevy truck owners reported oil leakage issues in their 3.0 Duramax engines.
The main source of oil leakage is the rear main seal, which is a basic part of the diesel engine.

GM recommends routine maintenance of the oil pump belt, which is a complex procedure.
Wet belts run the engine oil pump, which is always submerged in oil.
The crankshaft is responsible for providing power to the belt so it can run smoothly.
In the back of the engine, you will find the crankshaft and belt of the engine.
In this way, the 3.0 engine operates without making any noise.
However, it isn’t easy to inspect due to the design.
With the latest 3.0 diesel engine, the oil belt is made of rubber, which fails to lubricate the engine properly, which leads to overheating, engine wear, and misfiring.
It costs money and time to maintain the oil pump belt at these intervals, even though GM recommends replacing it every 150,000 miles.
In order to check the transmission, it has to be separated from the engine.
As a result, many users avoid it, which later leads to engine failure in the 3.0 Duramax.
