What Year Silverado Wheels are Interchangeable? [With Chart]

There were different bolt patterns and sizes on early Silverados.

Therefore, the Silverado’s size and lug pattern are different, but those of the six-lug Chevy are the same.

You must pay attention to the bolt pattern and size of the wheels when you wish to swap them.

You can only do this if they are compatible with each other.

Throughout the article, I have discussed in detail which years of Silverado wheels can be interchanged with which other years.

Wheel Configuration of Silverado

Wheels are a very important part of a vehicle. Better wheels can improve handling, brake, traction and user experience.

Silverado’s wheel size ranges in diameter from 17 to 22 inches. Larger wheels will need fender and suspension modifications.

Silverado 1500 trucks from 1999 to 2013 model years usually fit 17 to 20 inch wheels. It is a recommended wheel size but some XT trim Silverados also have 22-inch wheels.

2014-2023 Silverado 1500 fits 18 to 22-inch wheel configurations.

Some of the popular wheel options are Ballistic Off-road 814 Jester, Ion Alloy 171, Grid Off-road G014, RBP 94R Chrome.

What Year Silverado Wheels are Interchangeable?

In general, 2014 Silverado wheels can be interchanged.

Before changing the wheels on your Silverado, it is extremely important to understand the lug patterns on the wheels.

When it comes to determining whether a particular wheel would be suited to your vehicle or not, a number of factors are taken into account, including the lugs on the wheels.

To understand which Silverado wheels can be interchanged, here is a chart:

Years Model Bolt Pattern Size Interchangeable with
2007-2016 Silverado 1500 6×139.7 mm 17×7.5 Tahoe (2000-2016)

Avalanche 1500 (2007-2013)

Suburban 1500 (2007-2013)

Colorado (2006-2010)

Toyota Tundra

2007-2016 Silverado 1500 6×139.7 mm 18×8.5 Avalanche 1500 (2007-2013)

Nissan Armada

2007-2016 Silverado 1500 6×139.7 mm 20×8.5 Avalanche 1500 (2007-2011)

Tahoe (2007-2016)

Suburban 1500 (2007-2010)

2014 Silverado 2500 8×180 mm 18×8 GMC Sierra 2500 HD
2017 Silverado 2500 8×180 mm 18×8 GMC Sierra 3500 HD
2022 Silverado 2500 6×139.7 mm 17×7.5 Tahoe (2000-2016)

Avalanche (2000-2016

Suburban 1500 (2007-2013)

Colorado (2006-2010)

GMC Sierra 1500

There is no difference between a 2007-2016 Silverado 1500 and the Tahoe, Avalanche, Suburban, Colorado, and Toyota Tundra in their lug/bolt pattern.

So, the wheels of those vehicles can be swapped out for those of a Silverado 1500 and vice versa.

A different wheel size (18×8.5) but the same lug pattern (6×139.7 mm) is available for the 2007-2014 Silverado 1500.

In terms of wheel size, the 18×8.5 wheels will fit the Chevrolet Avalanche 1500 (2007-2013) and the Nissan Armada; they are interchangeable with the Silverado without any issues at all.

Among the set of 2007-2016 Silverado 1500’s bolt patterns (6×139.7 mm) and dimensions (20×8.5), the compatible vehicle wheels are Avalanche 1500 (2007-2011), Tahoe (2007-2016), Suburban 1500 (2007-2010).

There is no conflict between the lug pattern on the 2014 Silverado 2500 and the GMC Sierra 2500 HD.

The 2017 Silverado 2500 bolt pattern and wheel size are the same as the Sierra 3500 HD.

2022 Silverado 2500 wheels are interchangeable with Tahoe (2000-2016), Avalanche 1500 (2007-2013), Suburban 1500 (2007-2013), Colorado (2006-2010), Sierra 1500, and 3500 HD vehicle wheels.

But make sure, before starting the interchange, that the targeted wheel is compatible with your vehicle’s wheel.

You can find more about the wheels of your vehicle in your owner’s manual.

If you choose the wrong interchange between two wheels, you will have problems with control and other things.

Advantages of Silverado Interchanging Wheels

Changing the wheels of a Silverado improves the looks and performance. Five benefits of interchanging wheels are as follows:

  1. Style and looks: Changing the stock wheel with rugged looking wheels will improve the style. Off-road wheels not only increase the performance but also make the truck more appealing. Lightweight and stylish wheels give the vehicle an aesthetic look.
  2. Mileage improvement: Weight is negatively proportional to gas mileage. Losing any unnecessary weight will improve the gas mileage of your Silverado. Lightweight aluminum wheels can improve Silverado’s mileage significantly.
  3. Better handling: For off roading and frequent towing, heavy duty wheels are necessary. Changing the wheel will improve the stability and make it easy to control your Silverado. Better control and stability will boost the hour-long driving experience.
  4. Traction improvement: Changing the wheel depending on the weather and terrain will give you a better grip on the road. Snowy, muddy, dusty type of terrain needs special wheels and tires. Better traction means better control which will improve safe driving.
  5. Enhanced customization: Chevy Silverado users have a lot of options to decorate their vehicles. Changing the wheels is one of the options. It will give your Silverado unique look and pleasing experience.

Are All Silverado Wheels Interchangeable?

No, not all Silverado wheels are interchangeable.

Compared to earlier years, 2011 and up have different bolt patterns.

Wheels can be interchanged if their bolt patterns, tire sizes, and rim sizes match.

There are variations in the early Silverado bolt pattern, tire size, and rim size.

Therefore, it is wrong to say all Silverados are interchangeable.

What Should be Considered Before Using a Wheel from Another Vehicle?

The wheels of different vehicles look almost the same, but they come in many different designs.

If we take a closer look, we can see various bolt patterns, sizes, and rims on different vehicles.

The design of wheels varies from auto manufacturer to auto manufacturer due to different requirements and characteristics.

You must consider the following factors when changing the wheels on your vehicle:

01. Bolt Pattern

Bolt Pattern

When changing a vehicle’s wheels, it is highly recommended to consider the bolt pattern.

An incorrect bolt pattern can lead to problems and prevent you from getting the desired facelift.

That is why you should consider bolt patterns to achieve a magnificent look.

02. Size of the Tire

Size of the Tire

As far as the tire size is concerned, it should be the same as the old one.

It is, therefore, very important to make sure the replacement tires and wheels are suitable sizes; otherwise, the odometer and speedometer of the vehicle may be affected.

03. Size of the Rim

Size of the Rim

The rim size is the last and most important factor to consider when selecting rims for your car.

There must be a perfect match between the replacement tire and the rim.

Sometimes it can be challenging to identify a sizeable tire and rim.

To make it easier, check the rim compatibility chart.

  1. I have looked everywhere I cab think of, found nothing. What I am wondering is well the rims from a 93 Serria fit an 04 Silverado?

  2. @Steve that most likely will not work. The 04 Silverado has a 6×5.5 bolt pattern and the 93 GMC has a 5×5 bolt pattern.
